Bowron Lakes Circuit (2022)

Embarking on the Bowron Lakes Circuit was an adventure unlike any other. My group’s journey began with a fierce storm that toppled trees, forcing us to blaze our own trail the next day. We later learned that we were the fortunate ones having not encountered any loss of equipment or major injury. Counting our blessings, we continued forward, myself a bit shaken from the first day, but confident in my group’s ability to weather any future storms.

As the days passed, I found myself spending the longest time ever without basic amenities. Yet, amidst the challenges, the sheer beauty of the park took my breath away. I don’t believe I’ve seen more beautiful sunsets in my life than I experienced on the lakes.

One unforgettable moment was spotting a majestic moose grazing by the water’s edge, a rare glimpse into the park’s abundant wildlife. Equally memorable were the encounters with fellow adventurers, each sharing their own tales of triumph and adventure. It may be my favourite part of these adventures.

Despite the intimidating distance, canoeing the circuit proved to be surprisingly manageable – if I had to hike the same distance, I feel I’d be a lot more sore at the trip end. With each paddle stroke, I drew closer to completing this epic journey, fueled by the promise of new experiences and breathtaking scenery.

In the end, the Bowron Lakes Circuit left an indelible mark on my soul. It challenged me, pushed me to my limits, and ultimately rewarded me with moments of unparalleled beauty and connection with nature.
